I have not exercised for 2 weeks but have been meaning to. I have not meditated for 1 week but I intend to start tomorrow.
I have not called my mother for a month but I intend to.
Our lives are full of meaningful intentions that dissolve into deep regrets and then haunt us in our waking and dreaming hours.
Our minds love procrastination and deliberations and ruminations. We say we will and then we suffer because we didn’t.
If there is one thing I think you should consider eliminating from your mental library is the word- Regret.
Regret is loaded with neuro toxins that force us to live in the past — Literally makes us look back on the past and allows our mind to spank us for not being good enough.
I have spent way too many hours of my life in this state of mind.
Regret is a cancer that we live with every waking day and assume it’s normal.
We regret our words, our actions, our motives, our desires, our values, our moods.
What if we stopped doing that . How will our mind feel. Try this experiment. Don’t regret anything.
You had too much to drink last night . Ok. No Regret. I felt jealous of my neighbour’s new girl friend. Ok . No regret. I did not finish my work on time. Ok . No Regret.
Life does not want us to regret. She wants us to live. She wants us to grow. She wants us to thrive. She is very generous. Every time you feel regret you disconnect from her and self indulge in pity and remorse. Regret is an act of the ego to focus on it and give it attention. And we know that ego is an illusion. SO REGRET IS AN ILLUSION.
The alternative way to live a meaningful grateful and creative life is to start again.
If you thought you did not do a good enough job the last time — start again.
If you did not exercise for 2 weeks — start again.
If you did not eat that healthy meal you wanted to — start again.
When you take the attitude and behaviour of acting as if it’s the beginning. You don’t act from fear or self loathing . You start from self love and self renewal. There is a sense of optimism that drives that action and its nature is way more beneficial and enjoyable in its enactment.
You reinforce the power in you that nature has given you to reinvent yourself without remorse and with creativity.
Your source of action then shall be pure and progressive. Your actions will build you and nurture you with a sense of compassion and not with a harshness of self hate.
Go about your day in a state of starting again. For everything.
So if you love your family — Start again.
Love your work — start again
Love your body — start again
Love your ideas — start again
And feel the freshness of nature rain down on you and raise you up a notch of consciousness
Have a tranquil, creative day.
